Product Summary
Construction and materials
CannonBall, a brand renowned in the hardware industry, offers a range of robust and reliable products designed for various applications. Their expertise lies in hardware solutions that are both functional and durable, catering to the needs of gate, latch, and door closer systems.
The construction of CannonBall products typically emphasizes strength and longevity. While specific construction details vary across their product lines, a common theme is the use of heavy-duty materials designed to withstand frequent use and environmental exposure. This often includes:
- Steel: High-grade steel is frequently employed for its exceptional strength, rigidity, and resistance to wear and tear. This is particularly important for components that bear significant load or are subjected to repeated mechanical stress, such as gate hardware and door closer mechanisms.
- Cast Iron: In certain applications, cast iron may be utilized for its mass, durability, and ability to absorb shock. This material is often found in heavier-duty gate hardware where substantial weight and robust performance are paramount.
- Aluminum: For applications where weight reduction is a consideration without compromising strength, aluminum alloys might be incorporated. This is common in some latch mechanisms and lighter-duty gate components.
- Other Metals: Depending on the specific product and its intended environment, other corrosion-resistant metals like galvanized steel or stainless steel may be used to ensure longevity and prevent rust.
The materials are selected for their inherent properties that contribute to the overall performance and lifespan of the hardware. This focus on material quality ensures that CannonBall products can reliably perform their intended functions, whether it's smoothly operating a gate, securely latching a door, or providing controlled closing action.
CannonBall's product categories encompass essential hardware for secure and functional access points:
- Hinges: These are engineered to support the weight of gates and doors, allowing for smooth and stable movement. The construction often involves robust pivot points and durable mounting hardware.
- Gate Hardware: This broad category includes components vital for gate operation, such as hinges, latches, rollers, and track systems. The materials used are chosen to withstand outdoor elements and continuous operation.
- Latches: Designed for security and ease of use, CannonBall latches are built with strong engaging mechanisms to ensure doors and gates remain securely fastened.
- Door Closers: These devices are crucial for controlling the speed and force with which a door closes. They are typically constructed with internal hydraulic or pneumatic systems, housed within durable metal casings, to provide consistent and reliable closing action.

Options-Styles
The Stanley Commercial Hardware line offers a range of style options designed to complement various architectural aesthetics and functional requirements. While specific stylistic variations are often tied to the individual product category, general design principles emphasize durability, clean lines, and professional appearance suitable for commercial and institutional applications.
For Deadbolts, style often translates to the escutcheon plate design and the cylinder face. Options may include:
- Standard Round or Square Escutcheons: Providing a classic and robust look.
- Satin Chrome Finish: A common and versatile finish offering a contemporary and professional appearance, resistant to fingerprints and smudges.
- Bright Brass Finish: For a more traditional or decorative aesthetic.
Exit Devices, whether push bar or push pad operated, prioritize functionality and safety. Their stylistic elements are often integrated into their operational design:
- Push Bar: Typically features a clean, horizontal bar designed for ease of operation. Finishes frequently include satin chrome or aluminum for durability and a modern look.
- Push Pad: Offers a slightly more refined profile, often with a concealed mechanism, presenting a sleeker appearance. Finishes mirror those of push bars for consistency.
Door Closers, while primarily functional, also have design considerations. The visible components are often engineered to be unobtrusive:
- Surface-Mounted Closers: Available in various arm types and finishes, with common options including aluminum, bronze, or black to blend with door hardware and frames.
- Concealed Door Closers: These are designed to be hidden within the door or frame, offering the most minimalist and integrated style.
Across the Commercial Grade hardware, the overarching style is one of robustness and understated professionalism. This is achieved through:
- Durable Materials: Construction with solid brass, stainless steel, or heavy-gauge steel ensures longevity and a substantial feel.
- Functional Finishes: Finishes like satin chrome, polished brass, bronze, and architectural black are chosen for their resistance to wear and their ability to maintain a professional appearance in high-traffic environments.
- Clean Geometry: Many components feature simple, geometric shapes that avoid excessive ornamentation, aligning with modern commercial design trends.
When considering Locks beyond deadbolts, such as mortise locks or cylindrical locks, the style is also driven by the visible trim hardware:
- Lever Handles: Available in various lever styles, from simple straight designs to more ergonomically shaped or decorative options.
- Knob Handles: Traditional knob designs are also offered.
- Keyway Styles: While not purely aesthetic, the visible key cylinder and surrounding trim contribute to the overall look.
- Rose/Escutcheon Plate Designs: Similar to deadbolts, the plate that surrounds the lever or knob offers variations in shape and size.
The emphasis for Stanley Commercial Hardware is consistently on providing reliable, secure, and aesthetically appropriate solutions for demanding commercial environments, where durability and a professional appearance are paramount.
Construction and Materials
The Stanley Hardware brand, under the umbrella of Stanley Commercial Hardware / dormakaba, offers a diverse range of hardware solutions. While specific product details are not provided within the context, their categories indicate a focus on robust and reliable components for commercial and potentially residential applications.
Based on the listed categories, we can infer the following about the construction and materials used:
- Deadbolts: Typically constructed from solid metal, often brass, stainless steel, or zinc alloy for durability and resistance to tampering. Internal mechanisms usually involve hardened steel bolts and tumblers. Finishes can vary from polished chrome and satin nickel to oil-rubbed bronze, providing both aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance.
- Exit Devices: These are designed for emergency egress and are built for frequent, heavy-duty use. Construction generally involves sturdy metal components, such as steel or aluminum, for the chassis, levers, and crossbars. Internal components are engineered for smooth operation and reliability, often incorporating spring-loaded mechanisms.
- Door Closers: These devices are engineered with precision to control the closing speed of doors. They typically feature a cast metal body (often aluminum or steel) containing hydraulic fluid and a spring mechanism. Internal valves and pistons regulate the fluid flow, ensuring controlled door closure.
- Commercial Grade Hardware: This designation implies that the products are built to meet stringent industry standards for durability, security, and performance. Materials are typically heavy-duty, such as solid brass, stainless steel, or high-strength steel alloys, capable of withstanding significant wear and tear and high-traffic environments.
- Locks: Beyond deadbolts, the "Locks" category likely encompasses a variety of locking mechanisms. These could include mortise locks, cylindrical locks, and potentially electronic access control systems. Materials would similarly range from brass and stainless steel for mechanical components to robust plastics and metal casings for electronic housings. The internal workings of mechanical locks would involve precision-machined pins, springs, and cylinders.
The emphasis on "Commercial Grade" suggests a commitment to using high-quality materials that ensure longevity and security in demanding environments.
